Animal By-Products Regs (Scotland)

The Scottish Animal By-products Regulations

The animal by-products regulations for Scotland have now been published on the HMSO website and are available at the link below. They came into force on 1st October 2003.

The Animal By-products (Scotland) Regulations 2003:

  • introduce a ban on the routine burial of fallen stock,
     
  • allow the treatment of animal by-products in approved composting and biogas plants,
     
  • introduce controls for the incineration of animal carcasses,
     
  • and, require the treatment of animal by-products such as blood and feathers.
